The Victorian Paper Dolls Series

In this series, Marie Antoinette starts out at the center of the plate which celebrates her, but over a series of transitions, she emerges to become an observer standing in front, but eventually the pink-striped peonies and pale pink jewels overtake her, usurping the foreground once again. This series of 6 plates explores the interplay between foreground and background, object created for person and person created by object. Learn more..
