The Petite Plate ‘Purple Damask’ features the infamous portrait of Marie Antoinette at age 13, by Swedish-Austrian painter, Martin Van Meytens, placed within the context of the Josef Kuba porcelain plate ‘Bavarian Fragonard Love Story’, circa 1930s, which depicts charming vignettes of lovers in various poses of courtship, inspired by the famous French painter Jean-Honore Fragonard (1732 – 1806). Classic botanical images of the pink flamingo make their appearance again as do two small gold busts of the Queen while vintage private estate jewelry floats on a rim of purple damask.
